Our Diversity, Equity and Inclusion (DEI) Statement for Parent Wellness Group

Parent Wellness Group is committed to supporting ALL parents. When we say all, we mean all races, ethnicities, cultures, backgrounds, abilities, identities, ages, religions, genders, marital status, socioeconomic status, sexual orientations and truly any way of being human. ALL parents are welcome and deserve good care and support.

As clinicians, we know that feeling safe and supported are key factors in the therapeutic relationship. And as clinicians who have been on the client side of therapy, we ALSO know that in order to feel safe and suppored, we need to connect with the human we are opening up to and trusting with our most intimate and vulnerable shares.

Thus - in order to provide the support we believe ALL parents deserve, we are committed to first cultivating a diverse, equitable and inclusive staff so that our clients can connect with someone they feel safe with. And we acknowledge that we have a ways to go in our expanding not only our team, but also our referral network in the perinatal space.

As a primarily white group of clinicians, we are also committed to doing our own work to evolve our awareness of the impact privilege, prejudice, marginalization, oppression, power and discrimination play in our lives and roles as therapists. This will look like ongoing trainings, conversation to support an active anti-racist journey, as well as setting and staying accountable to personal and professional DEI goals that we set for ourselves.

We are always open to learning and growing and know that an ongoing commitment to education and support is needed to explore and become more aware of our personal privileges and biases.

Lastly, we are ALWAYS open to hearing from our clients and community about where we may be missing the mark or could do better. Please join us in our commitment to support ALL parents by sharing resources, organizations and blind spots that can help us stay committed to our mission.
