Meet Our Founder: Sarah Harmon

Sarah Harmon

Sarah Harmon, Founder of Parent Wellness Group

So, you’ve welcomed a baby! We’re so happy you found us. For birth moms, it doesn’t matter whether you gave birth one month or three years ago, you are and will always be in the postpartum period. And, after a year of our business being named the Postpartum Wellness Group, we are relaunching as the Parent Wellness group!

Why? For all parents, you deserve support that helps you thrive as a person, a parent, and partner. And while you know you need help, maybe you’re not sure what you actually need?!

A nap?
A therapist?

A housekeeper?
A new partner?

Not to have had kids?

Someone to tell you what you need!?

I have not only experienced the struggles of being a parent, but I have also supported and held space for hundreds of moms in my clinical practice and my company, The School of MOM (Mothering Oneself Mindfully).

Before becoming a business owner, I dedicated years of my life to pursuing a Licensed Mental Health Clinician degree as well as a graduate certificate in Mindfulness Studies. And despite my extensive training in the mental health field, I still struggled to identify what kind of support I needed during my own postpartum period. Then, when I was able to articulate my needs, I struggled to find a support person that I not only connected with, but who also had space to help me.

Time and time again, I hear clients talk about feeling lost, alone, and confused after having a baby. And while our system does a fairly good job of checking in pre-baby, once we welcome that child into the world, we are sent on our “merry” way to figure things out on our own. It feels nearly impossible to tend to yourselves as new parents when you are still recovering mentally, emotionally, and physically all while learning how to care for the every need of an infant.

THIS is why I started the Parent Wellness Group — to be the resource I wish I had.

  • I want to make it easier for you to discern what help you need, and provide an avenue for you to access that help without the search tipping you over the edge.

  • I want to make it easier for you to access mental health resources and support for parents, created by parents.

  • I want to help YOU navigate your pregnancy, postpartum, and family journey with ease and compassionate SUPPORT. And, not just any support, the kind of support I would refer my best friend to.

While the Parent Wellness Group is about to hit its one-year anniversary, this is our first official blog entry. Our mission with this blog is to help you not feel so alone and overwhelmed. And to help get you the much-needed guidance and support that you need as you navigate your personal journey of motherhood. We’re thrilled to be a part of your wellness journey and if there are specific topics you’d like us to cover, please share your ideas in the comments below!

Finally, please don’t hesitate to reach out to us to see if we can support you via individual and/or group therapy, or point you in a different direction if you are seeking help and you’re not sure what you need!
